The decade long collaboration with Prof. Pühse and colleagues from the Department of Sport Exercise and Health at University of Basel, culminating in the KaziBantu Project- Healthy Schools for Healthy Communities, has been valuable to Nelson Mandela University, and to the Department of Human Movement Science, where the collaboration and project is housed.
In recognition of his significant contribution, Prof. Uwe Pühse has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor at Nelson Mandela University, affiliated to Faculty of Health Sciences, in September this year.
An Honorary Professorship recognizes and awards persons of eminence, of professorial status, who has achieved distinction in their academic field, and who has made a significant contribution to the activities of the University and to society in general.
Prof. Pühse’s international research profile, his work as the UNESCO Chair Holder for Physical Activity and Health in Educational Settings, and his significant contribution to the learning and teaching, research and community engagement at Nelson Mandela University is being recognized. The awarding of the Honorary Professorship to Prof. Uwe Pühse is the first for the Faculty of Health Sciences in more than a decade.
